She announces a class project to adopt one of the orphans, Kim (Delfino De Arco). A $10 monthly sponsorship covers his care and a student will oversee the money collection, writing to him, and being his adoptive mother. Patty eagerly volunteers. She even gives the money her parents had given for clothes for Kim's clothes. Patty also takes a part-time job at the stationary store to send her entire salary to Kim.
