In the book "Live from New York - an uncensored history of Saturday Night Live", Gwyneth Paltrow recounts that Lorne Michaels told her that the "Hardcore Rock" sketch had to be cut because they were running 30 seconds too long. Paltrow insisted that she would be able to trim it down to the required length and managed to do just that during the live performance, which greatly impressed Michaels.
