Fascinating Characters &amp; Intense Story

The &quot;death&quot; for sale, in this story, is opium, a drug that law enforcement thought has been closed down for the last few years but obviously was still in business. One guy definitely in business was &quot;Jimmy Lupin,&quot; a very cocky 20-year-old who&apos;s a lived a tough life on a street since he was single digits. He is played by James MacArthur who went on to star in Hawaii Five-O with Jack Lord.

&quot;Lupin&quot; is no-conscience punk, but a smart one and his scheme to go 50-50 with an older thug who has the heroin but no one to sell it to. Lupin and he will share 1.5 million dollars if all goes well. (That translates into a lot more money in today&apos;s market.).

As good as MacArthur was in this story, the fascinating character to my male eyes was the alluring Carole Eastman. She got Lupin&apos;s attention, too. She had a pretty face, a Louise Brooks hairdo and was tough-but-vulnerable. After some investigating, I found out she led an old, very eccentric life and preferred screen writing to acting. She co-wrote &quot;Five Easy Pieces,&quot; a 70s hit film starring Jack Nicholson.

So....all-in-all, thanks to some fascinating characters, this was a riveting episode, worthy of a &quot;10.&quot;

Johnny Lubin has been on the make since he was a young kid. He quit school after grade 3 and by the age of 13 was paying off his truant officer $75 a week to leave him alone. Now 20, he own a string of speakeasies on the waterfront, including opium dens. He soon hooks up with George Dodd a toy manufacturer whose real name is Phil Melnick and is a supposedly reformed mobster. He has $2 million worth of opium to distribute and Lubin thinks he has just the way to get it into the hands of distributors. Lubin's arrogance however pushes him into a deadly game of cat and mouse with Eliot Ness and his men.
