"Before John McIntire became wagonmaster replacing Ward Bond he did a guest star appearance on the show as a wagonmaster/preacher named Andrew Hale. I guess the producers liked the name of Hale because he was Chris Hale after Ward Bond died. Bond and Terry Wilson find McIntire out alone in the desert passed out and dying of thirst. McIntire proves to be quite handy to have around, settling a few quarrels and helping out a lot when Bond comes down with a bad fever. The highlight was McIntire returning to his preaching roots and confessing who he was and why he was separated from his own Wagon ..."
