💡 Did You Know?

Two days after this appearance, Robert Goulet jumbled the lyrics to the US National Anthem at the opening of the second Muhammad Ali-Sonny Liston heavyweight championship fight in Maine, in front of 2,500 booing spectators. Goulet had never sung the US anthem in public before, and Howard Cosell (broadcasting at ringside) laughed thinking it was good fun and all part of the spectacle. As Dorothy Kilgallen had predicted on this episode, the anthem lasted longer than the fight, which was over early in the first round.
