"This episode begins with the Butler family around the kitchen table eating supper. The father, Sam Butler, has a late meeting in town and will leave the family alone. The mother, Leona Butler (Barbara Stanwyck), has a bad feeling about the night. She asks her husband to carry his rifle on this one evening. But since Sam had seen a peaceful Indian village massacred years ago, he refuses to carry a gun. While Sam is gone, a drunken Indian stalks the property and steals a horse. During the theft the eldest child of the Butler's is killed. Now Leona is having a hard time coming to grips with..."
