"Once again writer Roy Clarke has to replace actor Brian Wilde who played Foggy. Again he has to do it by way of a double playing Foggy. We were told that Brian Wilde had shingles. He would never return to the show, not even for Compo's funeral episode. I always sensed that there was more to do with Wilde's departure than a bout of shingles. Foggy's double spends the rest of this episode being drunk and passed out, put on a back of a wagon until an amorous postwoman takes the double and delivers him and herself to Blackpool.
