"I think it has a lot to do with the tone. The characters are less quirky, which makes them feel more realistic and less cartoonish. I would've definitely enjoyed this more grounded approach of the Gilmore Girls world, where Star Hollow feels like a real life small town and the witty dialogues felt more natural, and funnier too. And the way they went for a more diverse choice of female singer/songwriters for the soundtrack, would've given it more gravitas and things to look forward to each episodes...."
