Several scenes were shot on sets of the film Serenity (2005), follow up to the TV series Firefly (2002). The sets had to be rebuilt from scratch, as the original sets from the TV show had been destroyed after the show was canceled. The label "reusable container: do not destroy" seen on some crates in the cargo bay were an inside joke by the production crew, specifically referencing the fact that the original, expensive, sets had not been saved.
