"Island is one of the most simple yet poignant expressions of isolation that I have ever seen. Joel Haver uses the film's minimal resources masterfully, he makes a homemade set feel grounded even as it is surreal, and transitions cohesively with brilliant cinematography to the latter half's natural setting.
