Let down by poor visuals

I&apos;ve enjoyed revisiting Wire in the Blood recently, and while it is a little dated now, it is still entertaining, and more than little dark in its subject matter.

When I started watching this particular episode, however, I was sure that the cat must have been sitting on the remote control and subsequently messed up the colour settings on my TV; the colour had been all but de-saturated from the picture (an effect often used to depict a flashback, or event in the past) but no, the entire episode seemed to have been filmed in that way. I&apos;m not sure if this was a deliberate decision, or just badly-rendered episode (none of the previous or subsequent episodes looked like this) but it was extremely hard to watch and and very distracting. Shame, as I probably would have enjoyed this episode if it hadn&apos;t been filmed on something resembling a Box Brownie.

Tony Hill and DI Alex Fielding find themselves investigating the ritualistic murder and mutilation of two young children. Their investigation leads them to a laboratory where they find evidence of animal sacrifice and paintings in blood. It becomes apparent to Tony that the perpetrators are casting voodoo-like spells on a variety of victims. The investigation reveals several possible suspects including a so-called preacher, Dr. Kingston and a brute of a building contractor whose building site is shut down when a young boy's heart is found buried there. The power of suggestion begins to affect several of the team, including DS Geoffries and DC Paula McIntyre who finds herself hospitalized from a strange affliction, possibly a curse, but Hill remains skeptical of the killer's ability.
