In the episode &quot;Thomas Makes a Mistake,&quot; Thomas is working in India and gets a very important job from Charubala. He is supposed to deliver a truck of expensive silk to a fashion designer. On the way, he sees elephants swimming in a lake and gets so distracted by them that he misses a turn.

Even though engines like Noor Jehan and Ashima try to tell him he is going the wrong way, Thomas is too embarrassed to admit he messed up. He is worried Charubala will be angry, so he tries to fix the problem secretly. Because he is rushing and not paying attention, things get much worse. He accidentally picks up a truck full of goats instead of the silk. When he finally gets to the designer, a bunch of goats jump out! Then the silk flies out of another truck and covers his face, causing him to crash into a truck of mangoes.

The reason people dislike this episode so much is that it feels like Thomas lost all his common sense. Fans who have watched the show for a long time feel like Thomas used to be smart and capable, but in this story, he acts like he doesn&apos;t know how to follow basic directions. It feels frustrating to watch him ignore everyone who is trying to help him.

The story also feels very repetitive. He makes the same kind of mistake over and over again-getting distracted, ignoring advice, and rushing-which makes the plot feel a bit boring and predictable. People also didn&apos;t like how the engines moved in this episode; they bounced and jiggled on the tracks like they were made of light plastic instead of heavy metal. All of these things made the episode feel like it was made for much younger children, which upset the older fans who wanted Thomas to stay the &quot;Really Useful Engine&quot; he used to be.
