"A Kazakh woman with four kids has to figure out how to get by in modern day rural Kazakhstan when her husband disappears under circumstances that are ambiguous but basically looks like he's probably dead. She gets no aid from relatives or friends and is forced to maneuver around hhelp with strrings from a predatory townsman. Good acting, excellent photography. Very realistic and unexagerated. I didn't understand the ending but to say why would spoil it. I read elsewhere afterword that the movie was inspired by similar events that the director covered as a tv news reporter interview..."
