&apos;Kingdom of the White Wolf&apos; is a gem of a series. When it comes to anything documentary-related about wolves, it doesn&apos;t get much better or more comprehensive than &apos;Kingdom of the White Wolf&apos;. Proof that wolves should be shown on screen a good deal more than they are and that there should be more documentaries available based solely around them. Also loved its different approach, seeing it from the point of view and journey of Ronan Donovan as well as the wolves.

&quot;The Search&quot; is a wonderful first episode (first of three), in fact it couldn&apos;t have been a more ideal beginning to any documentary of any kind. It sets up what to expect perfectly and it is exactly what &apos;Kingdom of the White Wolf&apos; and nature documentaries are all about. &quot;The Search&quot; is primarily a set up episode, setting things up for what is to come and it does that goal beautifully. Chronicling the beginning of Ronan Donovan&apos;s quest and the year&apos;s pups being born.

Expectedly, &quot;The Search&quot; looks wonderful. It is beautifully shot and enhances the truly enchanting but also unforgiving scenery, well it is the Arctic overall. The wolves are a mix of majestic, adorable, caring and intelligent and it was easy to invest in what they have to go through good and bad.

The information is very entertaining but is also very educational, despite wolves being familiar animals there is a lot that is illuminating, and emotionally investable. Delivered with sincerity and enthusiasm by Donovan himself, whose personal journey is as interesting and investable as that of the wolves. The footage is educational and very sweet without being sickly or too sentimental, it also doesn&apos;t hold back when needed yet doesn&apos;t go over the top on that either.

Overall, wonderful first episode. 10/10.
