Fort Kaskaskia was the first to succumb to George Roger Clark's intrepid dash. The British feared him. He defended the settlers in Kentucky, and shattered the army of the traitor, Arnold. The supercilious English Lord Lounsberry, felt secure in his prize, won through a stern parent's connivance right from the arms of her lover, George Clark.
