The movie was shot in Sarajevo on a shoestring budget and took over a year to edit, because it had to be dubbed. However financing ran out by this point, so the movie was dubbed using Russian audiobooks, which were cut up to resemble dialogue. The director did this because he thought that English speakers wouldn't know the difference between Bosnian/Polish and Russian. The subtitles which were hardcoded into the movie, were totally invented, as well as the story which had to be worked out after the movie was cut together visually. The director says he will never attempt that kind of process again, which left him somewhat traumatized. Apparently real drugs feature in the movie, which is understandable considering the project's extremely bizarre and disturbing style. The director admits that he was using hard drugs while making this movie, as well as the rest of the cast.
