The Mustang, a former kingdom of Nepal has been opened to the tourists in 1992: the travel begins in Lo Mantang (the former capital of the kingdom). In this place the horses are very important. We will see the Yartung, festival dedicated to the horses and a later the migration of the horses: from beginning of November horsemen will travel by feet for 6-7 days to reach the town of Pokhara.

Mustang is an old kingdom situated in the north-east of Nepal: this place has been open to the tourists in 1992.The documentary begins in Lo Mantang.There it's now the end of the summer, they people have harvested their crops.For them the horses are very important.The town will celebrate the Yartung, a feast dedicated to the horses.The horses receive special saddles,The feast is dedicated on the first day to the relatives of the royal family, the second to the women and the third day to the monks.On the first day there is a procession to a great meadow, there the people sing and dance then the people get back to the village; there are various horse races.On the third days the people go to the monastery (offerings for the monks) and the monks ride horse in the meadow.Then near Novembre they begin to prepare their migration: only some people will remain in the town during the winter,Some people will collect yak and cow excrement that are used as combustibles for the winter.The people will travel by 4 x 4 cars to the south of Nepal. But a group of horsemen will travel by feet for 6 to 7 days till Pokhara.So the camera is following the horsemen and the horses crossing very high passes (4.500 meters above sea level) , for several days there are walking at an altitude of 3.600-3.800 meters before arriving at the River Kali Gandhaki, then we arrive at Jomoson and later at Pokhara where the horsemen have rented a meadow for the winter time.A last comment: the Kingdom of Lo or kingdom of Mustang was a trading place between India and the Himalayan region, besides the people speak a Thibetan language and the culture is Thibetan.
