Originally envisioned as a fully visual story with no voice over, this would have been Thomas' second attempt at making a film with no dialogue. Filmed as such, the film felt lacking, and was suggested by cinematographer, Phelim O Laoighaire to include voice over which was took segments of the first person perspective from the original story "The Terror" by Maupassant.
