"Peter Barnes deals with the frustrations of management and unions in the late 1970s Britain, all because the conveyor belt needs a squeak of lubricant. Peter uses suntan lotion it does the trick but the shop steward calls the men on a work to rule. Unfortunately for them that would just increase productivity. When the boss calls round to see Peter, he tells him that working efficiently and productively will not go down well with other workers but tells him to resign and they firm will take him back on in a lower grade role. The union will stand by him but want Peter sacked so they can go on ..."
