Boris Greefas is getting dressed in an official attire. A white shirt covers marks of a harsh past. He looks like stretching time. The TV talks about his victory in the presidential elections. A speakerphone demands he were going down because the car is ready. The memories come up as if it were happening at the moment. Boris's alcoholic mother kicks him, a 10 year old kid, down from the second floor balcony. An old lady Anna finds the kid with broken arms and laying on the ground desperately trying to breathe in and helps him to the hospital. She takes care of the boy during the recovery. She feeds him with home-made food, helps to fall asleep, makes him comfortable - a new feelings to the little boy. One day Anna brings a book called "The Ugly Duckling" and reads it loud. She says the book's message is that all bad things are not forever. The boy thinks it over. One day, when Boris gets well, someone enters his room.... Dreams of Mr. Greefas are interrupted by members of his campaign rushing into the room. While a speech writer points out the most important lines of his greeting speech, image maker fixes his suit. Boris doesn't feel present at the room. He recalls a memory of an orphanage mentor, the one who came for him: dirty hair, red face, rude manners. The scary man takes to his new home, an old dirty orphanage. Mr. Greefas exhales and leaves the cabinet, followed by the team members. On the way out he stops and enters another door. The newly elected president departs in his black car through the mansion's gates. It was scary to enter the unfamiliar room with stranger boys in it. Fortunately, the guy who is greeting Boris at the entrance seemed to be kind. Damien. He gets an immediate interest in Boris's only belonging, the book. They start talking, but the conversation gets interrupted - a group of orphanage bullies enters the room. Led by a strapping, aggressive boy Erik Jager the bullies start mocking Boris and finally they bring him down and beat him hard. Damien runs to the mentor's room for a help. The mentor, unhappily, leaves his bottle of rum alone and goes to flog the bullies. A reporter at the press-conference asks what will be a first decree of the new President? When the mentor finishes with the bullies, he turns to young Boris and brings him to his blind justice too. He brings the beaten boy to the floor and starts to flog him hard to make a warning. Through the tears young Boris notices "The ugly duckling" book. His sight focuses on the book and he stops crying. Boris opens his eyes and smiles to the reporter.
