"There are several problems with this modern day retelling and we can't avoid the comparison with the old one. They should have made a completely new series instead. I simply don't understand the reason of the creation of this show. Who needed it? Who wanted it to be a mediocre drama? Who is the target audience? These new characters and their problems are so unrealistic... Mostly rich people problems. OMG I'm so good doing what I do that everybody wants me! OMG I go to this elite private school it is so stressful that I can't handle it! Pfft... The way these people look ar..."

In August 2020, it was announced that Will Smith and Morgan Stevenson Cooper would be developing a reboot of the series based on Cooper's short Bel-Air (2019) trailer.
