The mountie captures wanted felon Frank McGlynn Sr. After he takes him back to the RCMP camp -- indicated by a Union flag pinned to the wal -- McGlynn escapes. The mountie goes in pursuit, but is badly injured. He drags himself a cabin, where McGlynn finds him unconscious and helpless.

I&apos;m so used to seeing McGlynn made up as Abraham Lincoln -- or occasionally as an actor playing Lincoln -- that it&apos;s hard to recognize him without the beard and stovepipe hat. Still, it&apos;s good to see him in a role in which he is not so typecast.

The man escapes and the officer again sets forth to capture him. In climbing a steep mountain his horse throws him and he sustains a fractured skull. For hours he lies in the freezing temperature, until his legs become frozen, and when he regains consciousness, he is unable to walk. By a heroic effort, suffering untold agonies, he crawls to a deserted cabin and falls unconscious on the threshold. The escaped convict, tired from his battle against the frightful storms and the cold, comes to the deserted cabin and is startled to find his former captor lying there unconscious. He gloats over the fact that the man is helpless and plans a vengeance that can only come to a deranged mind. But when he goes to start his tortures, a long-forgotten manliness asserts itself, and instead of seeking vengeance, he tries his utmost to save his enemy. He treats the frozen feet with snow, then wraps the man in blankets and clothes which he tears from his own person. He finally discovers that the man must have medical attention. He throws the unconscious body across his shoulders and begins the painful journey to a settlement. The man's life is saved and the lawbreaker is rewarded by a full pardon,
