Kelly explains that the reason why the series was called simply "Kelly Monteith" is that he'd worked with people who had their sitcom titles as their "middle name", such as Nell Carter appearing on billboards as Nell "Give Me A Break" Carter. As he didn't want the same to happen to him, he deliberately avoided calling the series anything like "The Kelly Monteith Show".
