Henry van Loon, who had played Volkert the janitor in De luizenmoeder (2018), and Diederik Ebbinge, who had played Director Anton and had also been involved as writer and director of the series, both declined to return for the movie adaptation. Even before the movie was planned, they had already indicated that the second season would be their last. Ebbinge felt that the story had been told after two seasons, and preferred not to "milk things" and quit while he was still ahead. This is the reason why his character is deceased at the start of the film.
