Susan Sennett is Melinda, she was in a few movies and TV episodes before quitting acting and married and divorced musician Graham Nash. Woody's father does not want his son being a poet since there is no money in it. The father is played by Arthur Franz who was many films such as the title role in "The Sniper" (1952) and a supporting part in "The Caine Mutiny" (1954)...."
