"I started watching Abbott Elementary because of the high praise and Emmy nominations... The pilot is a mixed bag of charm and déjà vu. Brunson's Janine is endearingly earnest, but the script leans too hard on The Office's mockumentary playbook... awkward zooms, deadpan stares, "documentary" cutaways.
