Garage Kids was originally intended to be a full-length series with a story that would be told as the series progressed but Antefilms wanted the show to be more episodic and self-contained. As a result the concept and story were reworked into Code Lyoko (2003) and creator Thomas Romain left the production to work on Oban Star-Racers (2006) instead.
