Beautiful, thoughtful, meditative

I enjoyed this movie quite a bit. I don&apos;t usually review movies, but thought I&apos;d add my 2 cents, because a 1 star review has dragged its audience score way down and there aren&apos;t many reviews to counter that. When I read that review calling this movie was pornographic I was confused. Unless I missed it, there is no sex, there is a scene in a bathtub that features our heroine&apos;s belly, but that would hardly qualify for most. There is no peeing in the mosque, the 1 star person clearly doesn&apos;t understand much about the mechanics of child birth.

If one doesn&apos;t like the politics or point of view of a work of art it shouldn&apos;t automatically become a 1 star. I can acknowledge the value of, say, Birth of a Nation, as a narrative piece of art without throwing it in the trash for its abhorrent racist message. Maybe I&apos;ll dock a few points.

We should be able to watch things that challenge our perspectives without becoming the digital equivalent of book burners.

The movie follows a pretty standard post-apocalyptic road movie structure. Its beautifully shot, the locations are well chosen. It reveals a little bit of it&apos;s philosophy but much is left unsaid. There isn&apos;t a ton of dialogue, there isn&apos;t a ton of explanation. We the audience are put in the shoes of the characters, who also don&apos;t really know what&apos;s going on. I thought it was refreshing in that way. The star is stunning and easy to empathize with. She is victimized, but not a victim. I don&apos;t know what happens next in her life, but I have no doubt she will be alright.
