"When his woman walks out on him, the clown suffers from hallucinations, imagining various people and situations in his misery. It's a trick film from Pathe, mostly using the technique pioneered by Melies a decade earlier: shoot the first half, stop the camera, and substitute new people and set dressings, causing instant transformation. It's done very facilely, but between the growing obsolescence of Pierrot and the familiarity of the technique, it's just of average interest for 1906, and a bit difficult to understand more than a century later...."
