The narration talks about severe winters in Britain as if it was a perennial problem. All the shots of deep snowdrifts, blocked roads and railways and iced over rivers and lakes, were undoubtedly taken during the winter of 1962-63, the severest winter in Great Britain in the whole of the twentieth century. Snow does happen in this country, but not quite as badly as shown.
