"Hope of Escape is a striking and refreshing film that offers a nuanced portrayal of slavery and freedom, which is refreshing since I feel a lot of Hollywood movies focus too much on victimization. This movie I felt, had more of an intimate approach that focused on the internal and emotional struggles of the characters which, in this case, can be just as or even more powerful than graphic imagery of slavery.
