An interesting premise, so-so execution

Writer&apos;s Block has racked up quite a following in it&apos;s natural habitat, and is a perfect ten there. But judging it as a movie, not so much. Yes, the director was 18, and it was some very impressive work for a person of his age. But when put up against other films, it just doesn&apos;t match up. It&apos;s beautifully shot, edited, and produced. The story is quite bland, the writing has much left to be desired, and its setting mediocre. But the worst thing about this movie was the acting. Mr. Sallee&apos;s acting was, recoiling at best. He responded to shocking plot elements as a person would toast popping out of a toaster. This aspires to be poppy teenage film, which is all fine and dandy when done right. But I take my hat off to Mr. Sandweiss. To pull off a good, believable premise for these type of stories is hard, and he gave it his best shot. Unfortunately for him, his best was not enough. Writer's Block tells the story of how Greg, a straight A, overachiever that could ace the essays all the other students couldn't, met his match. When assigned to write a simple children's story for his English class, the uncreative Greg is stumped and is faced with the problem of writer's block, literally. While struggling to come up with ideas for his story, cinder blocks appear on Greg's hands that prevent him from writing. Meanwhile, the awkward Greg tries to woo over one of his classmates, Stephanie, with the help of his suave best friend Matt. Over the course of the film, Greg learns lessons about confidence, believing in yourself and imagination.
