Violence makes a comeback

It&apos;s been two years since the last violent crimes, like raids or assassinations, were committed by the infamous &quot;Mad Killers of Brabant&quot;. There&apos;s a new menace in Belgium, though, an extremely left-wing terrorist organization named CCC. Marc, who never stopped his private investigation, is convinced there&apos;s a connection between the two. His obsession keeps affecting his relationship with Vicky, who&apos;s now a lawyer and requested to defend a former study buddy of hers who joined CCC. Franky keeps sinking deeper. He does the dirty work for Group Diane, becomes addicted to heroin, and ...worse. And then, when nobody expects it anymore, there are two extremely violent hold-ups on supermarkets in one evening.

This one before last episode of &quot;1985&quot; caused quite a lot of commotion in Belgium the day after it aired. By showing Franky taking part in the hold-ups, wearing a mask and carrying stolen guns, the series unmistakably suggests that member of the elite police squad Group Diane were directly involved in the crime network. This was never proven and, in fact, is still being researched today, almost forty years after the acts.

However, the rumors and suspicions of links with corrupt gendarmes, politicians, and elite police superiors have always existed. Almost every Belgian citizen also genuinely thinks the gang members were police officers, and see these theories now confirmed on television. Of course, &quot;1985&quot; is fiction. Well, to be entirely accurate, the series is a fictionalized interpretation of news facts that really occurred. That is also what the disclaimer at the beginning of every episode states, but it&apos;s only natural that many viewers see finally see this as answers to their 40-year-old unanswered questions.

One thing&apos;s for sure, the episode on itself is a highlight in the series after two lesser ones.
