Operation Blackout
A true historical event occurred, in July 7 2009, called Operation Blackout. After the brutal post-election crackdown of the Green Movement in the streets, some women decided to stay inside to protest. They use hair dryer and curling irons by turning all of them-- at the same time. Their aim was an electricity blackout to cut Ahmadinenejad's televised presidency acceptance speech. Inside the House is a dying mother, a dying hair dryer and a daughter. Outside the House, thousands of demonstrators are brutally suppressed by government forces. Footage comes from You Tube and Twitter uploaded by ordinary citizen as they became 'journalist' for the rest of the world -- using Social Media. A surreal interplay of this micro and macro drama is explored.
