This film is the winning result of a competition held back in March 2009, under the name "Liberate Oli's Fridge". This competition was looking to help emerging young filmmakers become more familiar with the medium of celluloid film. Olivier Koos, the producer and cinematographer had one roll of 35mm film stock, from Kodak, sitting in his fridge. The best screenplay should win it. Included was a set of equipment (Arriflex ST, 4x4 butterfly, 1.2k HMI, 4bk kino flo) and a dedicated crew for one day at their disposal, as well as a 2000 EUR budget. Sacha Bachims' script won that competition, and Gänseblümchen is the result of that.
