Personally I feel the story of making the Owner is as big as the film itself - 25 directors from all over the world gather their resources to create one film. At the beginning of the film, after a man empties out the contents of the backpack and doesn't find anything valuable and leaves it, a homeless looking young girl approaches it and begins to pick up the contents. There are several letters and one of the letters she picks up has on the envelope written "mac guffin", this is a reference to a plot device popularly used in films known as a MacGuffin in which an object serves as the form of some goal, desired object, or other motivator that the protagonist pursues, often with little or no narrative explanation- just like the backpack in this film.
