"An impressive feat of small-scale world-building, and an interesting idea. The film is gory, but the name is on the box. There are oozing worms aplenty, and the central conceit is tied in with a gruesome bit of body horror--mother worms and their brood take residence in peoples' hearts and minds, physically and culturally. The real horror stems from the parasitic cult that resembles cultural brain-rot. Cinematography is moody and top-notch. The small town vibe was authentic and Carpenter-esque.
