Every programme begins by showing a "showcase" fully restored version of the car Mike and Edd intend to purchase and restore. For the Porsche 914, the showcase was a pale green car, registration XGF 416M. When Mike finds the car he wants to restore, a barn find owned by a farmer, by an extraordinary coincidence the car has almost the same registration mark as the showcase: XGF 221M. This means it is quite likely that, when they were brand new back in 1973-4, these two cars were sold out of the same dealership showroom.
