Takes its time, but great moments in it

Argh, the final of the season. I don&apos;t want it to end, and I know it&apos;s not the end but is it too much to ask for an episode a week for 52 weeks each year??

We got some great moments. Roger hasn&apos;t annoyed me for one moment this series, dropping the minister carry on and just being very relatable and honest. The meet the ancestors angle is pretty good, they chickened out on meeting a young jamie though, AI and makeup might not be good enough to pull it off but it&apos;s a good thought.

Claire didn&apos;t die because of course she didn&apos;t, it&apos;s her story and there&apos;s an 8th season on the way, thankfully, as they advertised at the end of this episode, I guess I need that after the gap between 7 part one and two.

They did make a big point of &apos;final&apos; season though and I wasn&apos;t so keen on that as there&apos;s a 9th book landing some time. Give it time, never say never, at the rate they make these things it&apos;s worth keeping that option open.

Some twists in the story, I can&apos;t remember Claire and Jamies daughter they lost. I&apos;ll have to search back to find that bit. Guess that&apos;s the downside of a story stretched over 10 years. Hard to remember everything. Nice possible twist to the story though and I really like Florrie Wilkinson&apos;s character and performance so it&apos;s good she&apos;s sticking around.

Disappointing to see the end of Jane Pocock. She was a lively addition to the cast and it would have been interesting to see how her relationship with William progressed but I guess that&apos;s part of the territory they&apos;re in, dead happens a lot.

I didn&apos;t remember Claire&apos;s friend from paris that visited her in her dream either. Maybe we need a bit more in the flashbacks to help us?

Unpopular opinion for those who like the war and brutality aspects of the first season but I liked the contemplative nature of this episode, the thoughtfulness and caring of it. Beyond just pretty pictures and bang and whizz. There&apos;s a lot to think about and they gave us some this episode and other recent ones. Brave film making and it shouldn&apos;t really be. It should be the norm.

No word on when series 8 will start but I&apos;m guessing they&apos;ve been shooting it continuously so here&apos;s hoping it&apos;s not this time next year and we get book 9 shortly and the show extended to finish that.

I&apos;m off to read the book wiki and figure out who Faith is and what happened there.
