If you really want a dog but can't keep a large four-legged friend in your apartment, a Chihuahua, the smallest dog breed in the world, could be the perfect pet for you. Anna visits vet Elisabeth with her five Chihuahuas. They are a real bunch of rascals, the reporter immediately notices. Because they are so small and cute, Chihuahuas are sometimes treated like dress-up dolls. But that is animal cruelty: They are dogs and want to romp around and go for walks like all other dogs. As robust and easy to care for as Chihuahuas are, regular tooth brushing is a must, Anna learns. Otherwise, the small dogs get tartar, which can lead to gum inflammation. Anna has a lot of fun with the attentive, funny and sometimes somewhat daring Chihuahuas. They are in no way inferior to a large dog, but have the advantage of taking up less space, for example in the car. You can also easily take them on vacation with you.
