"The fact that the 2024 movie "Onsen Shâku" (aka "Hotspring Sharkattack") was a Japanese shark-themed movie that I hadn't already seen, nor actually heard about, was more than sufficient to make to stop, take notice and then sit down and watch the movie. I was fortunate enough to stumble upon the movie here in 2025, and needed no persuasion to check out the movie. Now, I was expecting this to possibly be bad, but writer Morihito Inoue put together a script that was utterly garbage and took the movie to a whole new and undiscovered level of bad. You can kind of separate them by a thin slip of paper, like, for example, if you take something upi fear far enough, you take horror far enough, it eventually becomes absurd and becomes funny. So for me, I wasn't really worried so much about balance. I was just kind of thinking, hey, let's just go straight into the comedy. Let's just have fun with it and see what comes out."
