Writer/director Florent Bernard watched a lot of movies about parents splitting up, and realized they were either comedies or dramas, with very few in between. Also, it was always shown from the parents' perspective, and never the children's, so he wanted to tackle this topic by making a bittersweet comedy, with nostalgia and funny scenes, while fully including the kids in the story.
