"The storyline is not good; and is confusing the whole story, can't tell what the movie is about. Still finished it though because I got invested in it. Too much talking, too much confusing parts, expected something more from it but it was more of train movie. Need to be put as a drama and not a thriller...."
💡 Did You Know?
The 1964 play this is based on was radical, confrontational, and deliberately uncomfortable. It wasn't trying to be polite, inclusive, or affirming. Playwrite Amiri Baraka wanted to provoke, not educate gently. Critics at the time called it angry, dangerous, even extremist. By 1960s standards, it was militant, incendiary political art. The main character Clay being Black is foundational to the story and Baraka's estate has historically been firm about preserving the racial core of the story as it has been adapted.
