Thanks But No Thanks/Troy Story

Fun antics

There are quite a large number of &apos;Phineas and Ferb&apos; that had great story ideas, managing to follow the basic formula while doing more than enough to give it variety. Really liked the idea of putting a Phineas and Ferb twist on the Illiad, while thinking it quite an adventurous subject for a short length episode. It also intrigued me seeing a supporting character playing a bigger role and in a way different to usual. Loved the show when it first aired during an up and down period for me, and have re-watched it a number of times since as that&apos;s how positive an impression it made on me.

Both &quot;Thanks but No Thanks&quot; and &quot;Troy Story&quot; are fantastic. Especially &quot;Troy Story&quot;, seeing literature or historical settings/periods being re-ennacted or/and lampooned is familiar territory for &apos;Phineas and Ferb&apos; or animation. Though it is not everyday where one sees the Trojan War being portrayed in some form in animation. Re-ennacting, parodying and lampooning has always been done really well on &apos;Phineas and Ferb&apos; and &quot;Troy Story&quot; is one of those episodes. &quot;Thanks but No Thanks&quot; though is a lot of fun and seeing Carl in this way was a surprise.

Not much wrong actually here, though Candace&apos;s plot in &quot;Thanks but No Thanks&quot; is a bit too predictable (not as change of pace like as it sounds) and not enough is done with it.

It is still incredibly well done as an episode, because the Carl plot is so zany and sees a different and surprising side to Carl, who never seemed the blackmailing type. Very interesting character chemistry too. Doofenschmirtz&apos;s subplot is not one of his most inspired and the outcome is foreseeable, but it is still wacky in a funny way.

Absolutely loved the &apos;Phineas and Ferb&apos; spin on the Trojan War in &quot;Troy Story&quot;. It was done very imaginatively and had a lot of energy and surprises, seeing the gang in their roles (some unexpected) delighted. Loved Perry and Doofenschmirtz&apos;s character interaction in their subplot and it was great seeing Perry being helpful to his nemesis. Both are well written too.

The animation is still wonderfully vibrant with very rich attention to detail. The music is dynamic with the action and the theme song is insanely catchy with very clever and quotable lyrics that anybody still in school fishing for how to spend their vacation will relate to. The voice acting is great, Dan Povenmire always sounds like he&apos;s having so much fun.

Moreover, the writing is very funny and intelligent. Once again, the right balance of being easy to understand for children while not being too juvenile for adults is successful. Both stories are entertaining and energy filled without being too manic. The character writing and interaction are near-perfect, especially in the Doofenschmirtz subplot in &quot;Troy Story&quot;.

Concluding, fantastic. 9/10.
