"Phoenix is a very ordinary movie. We've seen many films like this before, so story-wise there's nothing new or special. Most scenes and twists are predictable. However, as a debutant director, Anl Arasu has done a decent job. But as a stunt director, he isn't as impressive this time. The hero gets stabbed several times yet continues to fight - which feels completely unrealistic and unbelievable. In real life, he'd probably be on bed rest for months! What a joke. Surya Sethupathi proves how good he can act and carries the movie throughout. Hard to believe this is his debut..."
