"This show is very sweet. It shows the journey of Joan as she tries to find love after her late husband passed away from cancer. Both the men and Joan in the show are great, but Jesse Palmer is an awful host and does not encourage Joan to open up. You'd think they'd have a female host with a woman looking for love...clearly more male producers calling the shots on this show. I liked the whole season because it showed the male contestants softer sides. The challenges were silly and I believe in the end Joan will find the love of her life that she will spend the rest of her golden years..."

It was announced by People on Sept. 20, 2024 that contestant Gil Ramirez, who received a rose in the first season premiere, had a temporary restraining order filed against him three months before by an ex-girlfriend. In a June court filing, the ex-girlfriend accused Ramirez of stalking and harassment, claiming he made "25 attempts daily via phone, texts, video" to contact her and "showed up at places I frequent to confront me on a daily basis." The temporary restraining order was granted and then extended before being dropped when the case was dismissed. Even though the case was dismissed, producers of the Golden Bachelorette said they will reduce Ramirez's screen time.
