O&apos; Romeo

A Violent Poem Wrapped in Romance and Art

O&apos;Romeo is a film that feels like poetry on screen. It flows between romance, art, comedy and sudden violence in a way that feels bold and refreshing. It tries to balance softness with brutality, and for the most part, it succeeds.

The biggest merit of this movie is the performance of its actors. Shahid Kapoor steals hearts from the very first scene. The moment he appears, you feel that magnetic presence. He once again proves why he is one of the greatest performers of our time. There is honesty in his acting, and when he dances, it is pure visual delight.

Triptii Dimri delivers a powerful and emotionally layered performance. For me, this is her best work after Qala. She carries both vulnerability and strength beautifully. Even though Vikrant Massey appears in only a few scenes, he leaves a strong impression. Nana Patekar adds intensity whenever he is on screen.

Avinash Tiwary as the antagonist is shown ruthless and sharp. He does his part convincingly. But honestly, it would have been an absolute blast if the antagonist had been written even more powerfully. There was scope to make him more threatening.

Tamannaah Bhatia as Rabia is great. She leaves her mark and adds grace and strength to the narrative. And I genuinely loved the screen presence of Farida Jalal. I never expected to see her in this avatar in my life, and that surprise worked beautifully.

Technically, the film is very strong. The cinematography is stunning, almost like watching paintings come alive. The soundtrack supports the emotions well, and the editing keeps the narrative smooth. The first half is so engaging that I genuinely did not want it to end. However, the second half slightly loses its track. There is one hugely illogical scene that distracted me from the film, and the climax could have been better. I also felt a few more songs in the first half would have elevated the emotional build-up.

Also, do not leave your seats too early. There is a mid credit scene that clearly hints at a possible sequel, and that moment adds an interesting layer of excitement.

Despite its flaws, O&apos;Romeo remains an extremely pleasing cinematic experience. Go watch it for its unique storytelling and powerful performances.
