"I usually avoid anything suggesting opera but The Eyes of the World: From D-Day to VE Day on PBS is really good, both the singing and visuals. Overdue respect is paid to all levels of the five service branches, the parts played by women and (using the terminology of the time) Negro Battalions. The trials of four journalists are featured throughout; Elizabeth Lee Miller, Robert Capa, Ernest Hemingway, and a fellow named Jerry later known by his initials, J. D.
