"The Christmas episodes of "All Creatures Great and Small" are usually the very best each season. However, while "All God's Creatures" is quite good, I don't think it's quite as good as past Christmas episodes. There's a party planned for Jimmy's first birthday. However, the party doesn't come off as it should have because just before, Mrs. Hall receives word that the ship her son is serving on has been sunk. And, through much of the show, there's uncertainly as to the young man's status...alive, dead or injured. This muted everything..."
