"Of all human achievement, trying to put a man on the moon still feels like the most reckless and foolhardy; yet, when the crew of Apollo One died, it wasn't lost in space, but in a test, prior to take off. The first two third of this documentary tells of the lead up to this event: the oncoming tragedy is of course known, but this is one of the lesser stories from the space race so it's fresh and interesting. The last third seems poorly developed, a bolt-on gallop through the subsequent history of space exploration. That part adds nothing new; but the first hour is worth watching...."
